Tami Nguyen
Co-Founder, Head of Accounting
Tami stands at the heart of Great Cherry and serves as an abundant source of motivation for the team.
After graduating with a degree in International Finance in 2016 at Foreign Trade University, she took a gap year and travelled to the US. She went back in 2017 and worked for IPSOS, a multinational market research and consulting firm.
In 2020, she moved to Sydney with her husband, Will to pursue her master in arts at Western Sydney University. Her love for coffee ignited when working part-time as a cafe. She decided to drop out of the university after one year to become a full-time barista.
While working in cafes, she noticed a misperception of robusta coffee. It’s often perceived inferior compared to other species. For her, no coffee is inherently inferior to others, it’s a matter of harvesting, production and personal preferences.
Tami, along with his husband and friend Toan Duong, founded Great Cherry to promote specialty robusta from Vietnam. Their mission is to redefine the image of robusta coffee and enable specialty coffee roasters to “robusta differently.”
